There are ways to better your chances of landing a job.

Consulting work undertaken by LIFT team members over the three years prior to the establishment of LIFT highlighted the community need for an entity such as LIFT.  We know how hard it is for young people in Hawkes Bay to find and keep a job. The good news is, we exist to change this.

We provide work-readiness, resources, tools, training, work exposure and pastoral support to young people (You). At the same time we also provide activities and services to employers in the region, creating wrap-around pastoral care and pathways to transition you into sustainable employment or self-employment.

What do you do?
We help young people (16-24 years old) find sustainable full-time employment.
Do I have to pass a drug test?
We will work with you regardless, but most jobs will require you to a pass a drug test so your options might be limited if you can’t.
How long will it take?
Each and every young person is on their own journey so we can’t give set time-frames. But we can say the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it.
How does it work?

What jobs do you have?
We operate using a Reverse Marketing approach- you tell us where you want to be and we will utilize reverse marketing to connect you with employers in this industry. For information on current partnerships and opportunities contact our Employer Engagement Manager Graeme on +64 21 103 1294.
Can you help me with my licence?
We understand Drivers Licencing is an important part of getting people work-ready. If you require a licence to support you in your career journey we can help you with this.
Do I have to turn up at LIFT everyday?
No, but you get out what you put into it. You will find the more dedicated and committed you are, the faster results will happen for you.
Is it free? Do we have to pay?
LIFT services are entirely free if you are 16-24 years old.
Can we bring our mates?
If they are between 16-24 and genuine about looking for full-time employment they are welcome into LIFT. But we are not a ‘hang out’ space for everyone.
Can I work at LIFT?
LIFT is for youth, by youth and we try to have a youth based workforce wherever we can. However this is based on suitability for the role. If you would like to work for us email your CV to jobs@liftyouthemployment.nz with a Cover Letter outlining why you want to work at LIFT and what you would bring to the role. We will keep this in mind when we have available vacancies.
